HEAVY TRUCK DRIVING (05143)
(Diploma of Vocational Studies - DVS)

If you are interested in becoming a truck driver, here is what you have to do.

• Attend an information session (contact the Centre to register).
  
  
• Meet the requirements of the Ministère de l’Éducation, de Loisir et du Sport:
  
  

  -	Secondary School Diploma (SSD)
  or
  -	An Attestation of Equivalence for Secondary Studies (AESS)
  or
  -	Secondary IV credits in English, French as a second language and mathematics
  or
  -	General Development Test (GDT)
  or
  -	Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) including secondary 4th credits in English, French as a second language, mathematics
  or
  -	(MICC)

   
  
• You must comply with the following requirements of the Société d'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) to obtain a class 1 permit:
  
  

  -	Holder of a class 5 driver's permit for at least 36 months;
  -	Your record must not have more than 3 demerit points;
  -	Your driver's licence must not have been suspended or revoked during the previous two years as the result of accumulating demerit points or a driving-related Criminal Code conviction;
  -	Proof attesting that you meet the optometric standards of the SAAQ and a medical report from a healthcare professional.

  
  
• Successfully complete a vocational psychology test.
• Pass an English comprehension test.
