MAIN DUTIES
This group is comprised of workers driving heavy vehicles designed
to transport different types of cargo on urban, interurban, provincial
or international roads. Their duties include : driving a vehicle
or a combination of vehicles equiped with three axles or more and
varying between 15,000 to 55,000 kilograms in weight; transporting
various types of cargo to various destinations; monitoring the condition
of the equipment, as well as the loading and unloading of the merchandise;
carrying the right documents to transport cargo on international
roadways; recording cargo information, distances travelled, fuel
consumption, etc. in the log book; receiving and communicating information
to a central dispatch.

MAIN TASKS
| -

Perform
a pre-trip inspection of the vehicle : tires, lights, brakes,
alarms, etc. |
| -
|
Report
any fault and make sure the vehicle is fuelled with the appropriate
fuel quality. |
| -
|
Couple
and uncouple the trailer. |
| -
|
Monitor
the loading and unloading of the vehicle. |
| -
|
Make
sure the load is equally distributed and all available space
is used. |
| -
|
Secure
the cargo using straps, hooks, chains, and flanges. |
| -
|
Prepare
manifests for the loaded or delivered cargo. |
| -
|
Adapt
driving to the load being carried and weather conditions.. |
| -
|
Follow
safety and traffic regulations. |
| -
|
Check
the load regularly to make sure it remains stationary so as
to prevent movements during transport. |

|
Informs his or her employer of any malfunctions that occur on the trip. |

- Able to move 5 to 25 kg of weight.
- Able to perform manual work.
- Able to sit for long periods of time..
- Able to adapt to irregular schedules.
- Able to see near and far.
- You have a good peripheral vision.
- You have a good depth perception of distances. |
