In operation since 1976, the Centre de formation du transport routier (CFTR) is recognized by the ministère de l'Éducation du Loisir et du Sport as being one of only two public centres across the province to offer a trucking program leading to a diploma of vocational studies (DVS).

Know and put into application the economical driving techniques in order to obtain optimum energy efficiency out of a heavy vehicle.

· Optimum operation of a heavy vehicle:
    - professional attitude of the driver

OBJECTIVE :
Provide future driving instructors with adequate means of intervention with regard to apprentice drivers.

Upon completion of his training, the driving instructor will have the ability to:
  - put the acquired notions into application when carrying out his task
  - understand the characteristics of an adult in training
  - monitor an apprentice driver's performance in a work-related context
  - correct the weaknesses of an apprentice driver
  - apply intervention strategies
  - evaluate an apprentice driver's performance in the different work environments
  - complete a written or verbal report following the evaluation of an apprentice driver

OBJECTIVE: :
Observe and establish the participant's level of ability when performing the pre-trip inspection, driving, and storage of a heavy vehicle.

· performing a back-up manoeuvre
· operating a vehicle:
    - operating the transmission on flat ground
    - operating the transmission on sloped roads

Learn preventive driving techniques and become familiar with energy-efficient ways of driving heavy vehicles. Afterwards, put these techniques into practice on the driving simulator .
